Good morning, principal, teacher and fellow schoolmates.

This year is an important year for China as the Beijing Olympic Games was held in August, 2008. It finished successfully and brilliantly. Chinese athletes won 100 medals and it’s really and honor for Chinese. Today, I would like to share my experience and feelings of watching the Olympic Games and also how can we learn from the Olympians.

In the summer holidays, it was excited for me to watch the Olympics. I watched the Olympics all day and my favorite event is gymnastics. I think gymnastics is a difficult sport. The athletes need to do some difficult gymnastic movements on a vaulting horse or a balance beam etc. It’s great for the athletes to do these difficult movements. I admire them.

One of the gymnastic athletes, Chen Fei, who is also the most popular Chinese gymnast, makes me unforgettable. She made a mistake on the ‘Chen Fei Jump’, which was created by her, in the vaulting horse this year. It made her cannot win the gold medal. It’s really a pity to her. Did she feel depressed? Maybe she did but she faced her failures and perked up and also finished the rest of the events beautifully. She vowed to strive for the best in the 2012 Olympic Games. I think her spirit worth learning from. Nowadays, it is easy for teenagers to feel depressed when they face the challenges. We should learn how to face the failures and overcome the challenges. Also, we need to strive for the best in the same way as Chen Fei did.

Sometimes, you will feel that you are a loser when you fail. But, you can learn something from the failures. So you can do better and also you may succeed next time. I hope you think about Chen Fei and learn from her.

Thank you very much for your attention this morning.
